About Us

Carey A. Beyor, LMFT is the Founder and Director of the practice, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Certified Imago Therapist.

Carey specializes in individual, family and couples therapy, and has been in practice in Glastonbury, CT for 19 years.  She has been Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Connecticut for 23 years.

With 25 years experience and since graduating Antioch New England Graduate School, and specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, Carey is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are:  adoption/fostercare/kinship family issues, new parents, women's issues, trauma, co-dependency, helping family members through divorce, teen issues, infertility, infidelity, intimacy issues, step/blended family issues, depression/anxiety, family conflict, and grief and loss.  Carey also enjoys working with Diverse Populations including LGBTQ persons.

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, Carey is a Certified Imago Therapist, which means she can use this approach in addition to traditional couples therapy.  For more information on Imago Couples Therapy, please visit their website at imagorelationships.org.

Carey recently took part in extensive Training in Adoption Competency (TAC).  This means she has further knowledge beyond her Master's Degree and general training that will assist her in understanding and helping with the complexities surrounding Adoptive, Foster, Kinship, and Birth Families, as well as Adult Adoptees and others affected by adoption-type issues.

Carey also believes in being LGBTQ-friendly and trained.  She continually engages in further training in this area.  She has some experience with Transgender/Non-Binary persons and will continue to build her expertise and knowledge.

Carey A. Beyor, LMFT an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques from CBT, DBT, Family Systems Theory, and Psychoanalytical Approaches to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.  Carey believes the clients are as much the expert as the therapist and enjoys working with them as a team to resolve the issues they are facing.

Carey's hours: 

Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm (in-person is available every other week)

Wednesdays from 9 am to 6 pm  (in-person is available every other week)

Thursdays from 7 am to 6:30 pm telehealth only

Fridays from 8:00 am to 6 pm telehealth only

Mary Armstrong, LMFT Mary Armstong, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Clinical Associate in the practice.

Mary currently sees adult clients. She is trained in CBT and DBT. Mary has experience working in congregated care and outpatient settings. Mary has worked with clients with a variety of clinical needs including relationship struggles, conduct problems, impulsive behaviors, anxiety, self-destructive behaviors, depression, and parenting skills. Mary has Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut. She has also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University.

Mary strongly believes in helping her clients reach their goals by focusing on their strengths and building on their resiliency. Mary understands that change is not always easy and she is able to help her clients determine and work towards their goals in a supportive and collaborative way.

Mary's Hours:

Monday and Tuesday evenings, thus far via telehealth only

Jennifer V. Lusa, LCSW, PhD is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in individual (children 10+ through adults) and family therapy.  She is also a Certified EMDR Practitioner.

Jennifer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of CT and MA. She received her Doctorate in Psychology from Walden University, her Master's in Social Work from the University of Connecticut, and her BA from Saint Augustine College.  Jennifer has over 18 years experience working with latency aged children, teenagers and their families in outpatient and congregated care settings. Her primary specialties including working with those who have experienced chronic and episodic trauma, Anxiety Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Mood Disorders, and attachment related issues.

In addition to being a highly experienced therapist, Jennifer is now Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which has scientific efficacy in lessening the symptoms of trauma and anxiety issues.  She utilizes this additional method with her clients if they so chose.  For more information about EMDR, please go to www.emdr.com.

Jennifer Lusa, LCSW, PhD uses a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-focused therapy, and Trauma Focused Treatment modalities.  With competence and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Kristen Stickles, LPC, LADC is a Clinical Associate in the practice, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Kristen started off in the field of counseling in an inpatient substance abuse treatment program as a residential counselor in 2008. It was there that she discovered her passion for substance abuse counseling and group facilitation. She decided to pursue a Masters Degree in professional counseling from Central Connecticut State University where she completed internships in an adult probation office as well as a domestic violence shelter. Upon graduating, she began working as a substance abuse counselor in a correctional facility. She also continued to work part time as a facilitator for first time DUI offenders in the community and as a therapist for a mental health outpatient program in Hartford. She has experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, anger management, and domestic violence. She utilizes a strengths based approach to help individuals to achieve their goals. She works with adults ages 18 and over.

Tuesday OR Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 pm in-person or telehealth

Saturdays 9 am to 12 pm in-person or telehealth
